Second approach was to just add the Verizon email account as “other type of email” but once I enter my email address and password it automatically starts downloading my email using POP with no option to select IMAP. This approach does not recognize my email and password combination (even though I tested the combination successfully multiple times directly on AOL web based email). First approach was to select AOL from the menu of options in setting up the email account and entered my Verizon email address.

When I delete the account and try to set it up fresh as an IMAP account I’ve encountered issues using 2 different approaches. There doesn’t appear to be an option to simply change from POP to IMAP. Don’t remove them just yet in case something goes wrong. Disable the Verizon account from your email clients such as Apple Mail on your Mac or iPhone. I have tried everything to either change to IMAP or re-establish my email account using IMAP on my MacBook but to no avail. In Mail on your Mac click your Verizon inbox, click the Mailbox menu, and choose Export Mailbox. I subsequently re-established my email account on my phone and IPad using IMAP which I like because it synchronizes across the devices for read, deleted, etc. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): completed the migration of my Verizon email to email several months ago selecting to continue with POP format for my MacBook. Incoming mail server (POP3): POP3-995-SSL Just make sure SSL is enabled and you use your full email address, including Settings Port Settings No matter what application or software you use, the POP sever and port settings will be the same.

Update account info in POP3 email applications. Yes, I know that email moved to aol a few years ago. But there is STILL CONFUSION over the correct server settings to connect and download emails to Outlook. Also, Incoming, should be POP3, with port settings of POP3-995-SSL and then for outgoing settings smtp-465-SSL. Settings are supposed to be for server it keeps coming up. I've had my POP3 email on since we got DSL in 2004 (?) and still have it because we are now FIOS customers. No, my email is hosted on AOL, not yahoo.
